The GEOS Symposium was held from 1 to 3 May 2009 at the Ca’ del Monte Observatory. Members gathered for scientific presentations, activity reports, and collaborative discussions.
The meeting opened on Friday afternoon with the adoption of the agenda and a review of GEOS publications. Scientific sessions addressed various aspects of variable star research, with particular emphasis on RR Lyrae stars. Presentations included studies on period changes in RRab stars, reports on CCD observations, and the discovery of new variable stars within GEOS programmes. After the evening sessions, observing activities were carried out.
On Saturday, the programme continued with contributions related to space missions such as CoRoT, robotic telescope developments, and new results on RRc stars. Additional presentations covered the identification of new variable stars in open clusters and collaborative observing activities. The GEOS observing programme and management issues were also presented and discussed. Evening observing sessions again complemented the scientific programme.
The final day of the meeting included a presentation dedicated to GEOS CCD activities, followed by a general discussion on GEOS observations, scientific work, and the coordination of group activities. The meeting concluded around midday, marking the end of three days of scientific exchange and organizational discussions within a collaborative atmosphere.
