Since no GEOS symposium was organised in 1985, several members of the association participated in the 2nd European Photometry School, held in Toulouse from 6 to 8 April 1985. This event brought together participants from numerous organisations active in photometry, offering a broader collaborative environment than a GEOS‑only meeting. The proceedings of the school were published under the direction of François Querci, ensuring the dissemination of the material presented during the sessions.
A total of 22 GEOS members, representing four countries, took part:
- Belgium (2): Roland Boninsegna, Patrick Louis.
- Spain (4): Jordi Aloy i Domenech, Jaime Busquets, Amando Estela, Juan Fabregat.
- France (13): Guy Boistel, Roger Chanal, Stéphane Ferrand, Bruno Fontaine, Alain Figer, Jean‑Philippe Garsztka, Claude Gregory, Emmanuel Joffrin, Jean‑François Leborgne, Bernard Petot, François Querci, Joseph Remis, Franck Vaissière.
- Italy (3): Francesco Fumagalli, Wladimiro Marinello, Claudio Romoli.
The presence of GEOS members alongside participants from other national and international organisations helped maintain strong links between communities and encouraged the exchange of observational practices. Even in the absence of a dedicated GEOS symposium, the network remained active and cohesive through this shared training event.
