The GEOS symposium was held in Carona from 5 to 7 May 2006, bringing together around twenty amateur and professional observers. As the weather prevented the planned observing sessions, discussions focused on ongoing work: CCD analyses, RR Lyrae maxima, the Blazhko effect, observatory automation, and the use of TAROT data.
The exchanges led to the launch of a publication project based on the RR Lyrae database, including the extraction of long‑term monitored stars, the analysis of O–C diagrams, and comparisons with major photometric surveys. Several publications based on TAROT data were planned, along with new observing campaigns at the Calina Observatory.
The symposium also endorsed a strengthening of GEOS’s dissemination efforts: putting the GEOS Circulars online, exploring their deposit at CDS, and the possibility of distributing selected circulars via arXiv (astro‑ph) when the format is suitable.
