GEOS RR Lyr Survey

The GEOS RR Lyr Survey is dedicated to monitoring period variations and the Blazhko effect in RR Lyrae stars, phenomena that can evolve over timescales ranging from days to centuries.

Studying these changes requires a sustained effort to collect observations over many years. To achieve this goal, the project combines professional and amateur contributions.

Bright RR Lyrae stars, with a minimum magnitude of about 12.5 or brighter, are observed using TAROT robotic telescopes located at Calern Observatory in Europe and La Silla Observatory in Chile. At the same time, under-studied RR Lyrae stars in the magnitude range of 12 to 15 are examined in detail through CCD observations carried out by amateur astronomers equipped with telescopes of 20 to 60 centimeters in diameter.

This collaborative approach ensures continuous data collection and advances our understanding of these variable stars.
