GEOS Circulars

The GEOS Circulars are a series of peer-reviewed publications issued by the GEOS group, dedicated to disseminating scientific results and updates on variable star research. These circulars include detailed observational reports, preliminary declarations, and collaborative findings contributed by both amateur and professional astronomers.

Through these publications, GEOS fosters the exchange of knowledge, encourages methodological innovation, and supports the active participation of its members in astrophysical research.

The different series of GEOS Circulars are:

  • GEOS circulars on Cepheids
  • GEOS circulars on Delta Scuti Stars
  • GEOS circulars on Eclipsing Binaries
  • GEOS circulars on RR Lyrae
  • GEOS circulars on Semi Regular Variables
  • GEOS circulars on Asteroidal Occultations
  • GEOS circulars on New Variable Stars
  • GEOS circulars on Small Amplitude Variable Stars

Circular Notes

The GEOS Circular Notes (NCs) are periodic bulletins published by the GEOS group to inform members about recent activities, observational results, and collaborative initiatives. Each NC typically includes detailed reports on visual and electronic observations, updates on ongoing research programs—such as the RR Lyrae Survey—and practical instructions for contributors.

These circulars play a crucial role in fostering communication and coordination among amateur and professional astronomers within GEOS, ensuring that data collection, analysis, and scientific goals are shared and advanced collectively.

Technical Sheets

The GEOS Fiches Techniques (FTs) are detailed documents that define the protocols, priorities, and methodologies for observational programs within the GEOS group. Each FT outlines the selection criteria for target stars, recommended observation techniques (both visual and electronic), and the procedures for submitting monthly reports. These technical sheets are regularly updated to reflect changes in research priorities and to incorporate feedback from the observing community.

By providing clear guidelines and standardized templates, the FTs ensure consistency and scientific rigor in the data collected by GEOS members, fostering effective collaboration between amateur and professional astronomers.

Basic Documentation

The Documentation de base (DBs) series is a collection of foundational publications produced by the GEOS group to provide essential reference material for its members. These DB publications are designed to offer clear explanations of the group’s scientific goals, methodologies, and collaborative practices, ensuring that both new and experienced members have access to authoritative information.

By establishing a shared knowledge base, the DB series supports the effective participation of amateur and professional astronomers in GEOS activities and fosters a consistent approach to variable star research.
